February 2, 2025 Our tiny little fluff ball, CHARLIE, went to her new home yesterday! A very nice fella took this little stuffed animal kitty! He just loves her and you can see that she loves him too! It’s adorable!
This gorgeous kitty has been overlooked for way too long because she is shy! But this is a match made in Heaven and her new owner just thinks she’s great! It really was meant to be.
CHARLIE (is a girl) and she is the LAST cat to be finally placed out of a colony at a former Seafood facility that I rescued at Surf City! It took two years, lots of taming time and lots of funding to support and care for all these cats. Now, the last one has been adopted and I’m so happy for her!
The couple that alerted me to all if these feral cats named all of them. Charlie was thought to be a boy, but was not! I think her owner likes the name anyway!
Blessings to Charlie and her future with Ryan! She’s one of the most adorable cats I have ever rescued!
July 16, 2024 Good news! Charlie is recovering from successful dental surgery today! BLESS her heart! Her mouth was WAY worse than I thought and she had EVERY tooth pulled!!! I am sure this will make her so much happier and pain free! Poor little thing! She’ll soon be healed and feeling much better about eating and life in general!
Nov. 12, 2023 Meet Charlie inher new video! She is the LAST kitty left from my colony rescue at Topsail Beach. She was completely traumatized when rescued and I was told by the caretakers that she witnessed her brother killed by a coyote.
Charlie is such a petite little girl and just needs LOVE!!! barely weighing 5 lbs., she’s like a fuzzy stuffed animal that you just want to cuddle!

April 28, 2025 Wonderful news! CRAPPIE is adopted! Last week I took CRAPPIE to her new home! The adopter is a veterinarian & super sweet! She LOVES our sweet little CRAPPIE! Crappie traveled great in the car looking around & never made a peep.
After CRAPPIE got adopted a few months ago & returned after only a few days, I am thrilled that this home will be so much better for her! The vet is a beautiful petite little lady just like CRAPPIE! She understands that in a new home, you have to be patient with a new kitty! She also has a dog & I loaned her my baby gate to make the intro to the dog go smoothly.
Crappie’s new mom tells me that she is eating, using her litter box & purring up a storm! She will be a little shy for a while, but considering all she has been through, the reports that I am getting sound great!
This poor little kitty was rescued at the Atlantic Seafood production plant along with at least 60+ other cats. Crappie was skin & bones & was already blind in one eye. It’s a miracle that she survived long enough for me to save her!

January 24, 2025 My name is CRAPPIE, like the fish! Meet me in this video! I was rescued used by FURR at the Atlantic Seafood plant in Hampstead. That plant was torn down & I was saved along with about 70 other relatives of mine!
I’m just a tiny little girl, a couple years old and I am VERY SPECIAL because I am blind in one eye.
I do just fine with one eye & I never feel sorry for myself! It’s hard for me to understand why I am still up for adoption? I guess folks want “purrfect” cats? BUT, I am so adorable, sweet & tiny. My little upside down smile gives me that funny “Grumpy Cat” look! LOL!

April 11, 2025Wonderful news! The amazing couple (that adopted, cared for & grieved….GORDON) has returned to FURR to rescue again! This time they are adopting OSCAR & TONY our long-time beloved brothers that were born at FURR!!!
Those 2 boys have been waiting soooo long for a real home and as bad as we are going to miss them, I’m so happy for them!
Heather & her husband are amazing and they have donated TWO Karunda trees to FURR AND they have just donated a large industrial sink to FURR! I believe the sink came in today because there is a big box on my front porch! We will all love having that!!!
My handy man will be putting it in along with a garbage disposal…woo hoo! Yes, all these things have taken a while to get, but we’re gettin’ there. The county water hookup was a long time coming, but i had no idea it was gonna be almost $5,000 ! At least we don’t have to carry water bottles from my house any more.
Anyway, the door greeters are leaving us! Heather is out of town on a business trip for a couple of weeks & when she gets back, the boys will go to their new home; so, we have a little more time with them before they go.
Boy, these adoptions just tear me up! So happy but all that history I have with the cats leaves out the front door. My memories & my heart will always be there loving them.

January 30, 2025EMMY & BUBBLES, two of our adorable and well loved black cats have been adopted! I am just ecstatic with joy but did shed quite a few tears too!
Emmy was born at FURR and I always felt like I birthed her and the other “Battlet” kittens myself! Read the amazing Battlet family’s story below, including Mama Batts (available) and Daddy Batts (adopted also). Watching them grow up and having no one want them because they were black, was heart breaking.

These cats are amazing! “Purrfect” in every way! They eat well, use the litter box, do well during nail trims, love to play and chase each other and love to cuddle!

September 30 2023It is with BITTERSWEET feelings that I tell you all that DADDY BATTS HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!! (Mama, 3 youngsters still available!) Our own volunteer, LAURA and her husband have taken Daddy Batts into their home!!! This is the second FURR kitty that they have adopted; the first one being “CORAL”!
I was in tears leaving Daddy Batts at Laura’s house yesterday and he was not there at the front door when I went to FURR last night and this morning. I miss him terribly!
DADDY BATTS went through so much to be here! He had been captured by a coyote and almost lost his front leg due to several SEVERE puncture wounds and no hair (see Aug 2022 photo below). It looked like he had been drug by the coyote and somehow managed to escape. Dr. Rockwell put him back together during an ICU stay at the hospital.
Today, he has fully recovered and you cannot even see his scars. He beautiful long coat filled out and he is as good as new.
I will never forget this brave and gentle cat and how he transformed into a butterfly! Thank you Laura for taking him in your heart. He will always be in mine!!!

August 2022 – Here is the amazing Story of “The Batts” kitty family that Terry has spent a great deal of time and money rescuing this summer!

I got a call from a little old man, Mr. Batts, about 2 cats in his neighborhood. He wanted them GONE. I explained that I had NO room to keep them, but would at least TNR (trap-neuter-release) them for now. I told him I would GIVE him the food if he would just feed them & give them clean water. So, I trapped a HUGE gray tabby & white male. “Daddy Batts” was completely pitiful. He was skinny even though he had a large frame & big jaws. He was BEATEN up to a pulp. His arm had multiple puncture wounds from a dog or coyote (above left) & he was hospitalized for 4 days & cost FURR about $600 on top of the $200 S/N clinic. I got him an antibiotic shot when he was neutered, etc. I put him in a cage in my garage to recover. I have A/C in there for recovery cats. He literally ate & slept for a week. I felt so sorry for the horrible life he had had in his 2 short years on this earth. Needless to say, he has healed up beautifully, but I STILL have him.

After I caught Daddy Batts, I went back to catch the next cat. GOT TWO TEENS IN SAME TRAP! Oh boy…. 2 boys, both black, a.k.a. Batmann and Robin. One long haired boy & one short haired boy with a white spot on his chest. They were about 5 months old and scared to death. I got them fixed, tested, etc., and put them in a cage in my garage to recover. By the time I went into the hospital, the 2 cats had been in a cage for 2 weeks and they were letting me pet them. I BEGGED every friend, rescue, family, neighbor, etc., to PLEASE foster them. One of the Wilmington cat rescue groups had just had a person apply to be a foster, so she gave me the new foster person. Kristy, bless her heart, took the 2 teens over to the Foster’s house because at this point I am in the hospital.
The foster still has them and they are now READY FOR IMMEDIATE ADOPTION! The foster has done a tremendous job, but cannot keep them much longer! Also both have had their shots, been fixed, etc.
Update November 2022 – Batman and Robin were transported up north to another rescue group.

But….the story TOTALLY doesn’t end here….another cat showed up at Mr. Batts neighborhood. I’ve already trapped THREE that I still have & he called me to say there was one more. CRAP!!! It’s like a bottomless pit & I need soooo much help…. So, I trapped the last one that was another black cat…great. I took it to the S/N clinic, and when I picked her up in the afternoon, the vet told me that they fixed her, etc., BUT that she had JUST HAD KITTENS VERY RECENTLY!!! I just started to cry. She has now been away from new borns a whole night & day and now she has just had surgery! I told the vet I would have to let her go if the babies had ANY chance of survival & pray to GOD I haven’t caused kittens to die!
This “Mama Batts” kitty was tiny & skinny. She, in NO WAY, looked pregnant or to be nursing. The vet said I could let her go after a few hours after surgery….and again, I was just in tears. I HATE it when this happens & you catch & fix a feral cat that has KITTENS!! So, I rushed to PetSmart, with Mama Batts in the car, left the car running, and bought my first GPS collar. I had to figure out how to program it, get it on a collar & get it on HER. I got all that done, released her after a few hours, called my sister to come sit with me.

Mama Batts took us to an old abandoned boat & there, inside, were 5 new born black kittens!!! They were barely alive & still had umbilical cords on them & they couldn’t have been more than a couple days old. I got the kittens out of the boat & put them in a small carrier. Then using the kittens as bait, backed up a trap to the carrier & re-trapped Mama Batts who went right in to get to her babies. One of the babies had terribly infected eyes & even after Kristy & Patty took it to the vet for me (I was in the hospital), it ended up passing away. My heart was broken, but I am grateful for all trying to save it. I paid to have the little one cremated & added to the FURR cremation box with our still much loved FURR friends from the past.
Mama Batts & her 4 kittens have since been in my bathroom. The kittens are 4 weeks old now, all black & adorable little black bear cubs! If someone takes Mama Batts along with a kitten (or 2), special pricing, food & free vet care provided for 6 months! Mama Batts is short haired shiny black, very young (probably not even 1 yr yet) and healthy! She is already spayed, shots, tested, microchipped, etc. All vetting comes with the kittens at the appropriate age. Mama Batts is shy, but loves to be petted, rubbed & getting better & better about being picked up. She has had it rough & deserves so much love!

I did home visit and paperwork and all was great! I picked up TIGGER from his foster home in Carolina Beach and delivered him to his new home in Hampstead!
So happy for this beautiful abandoned cat!

December 6, 2024 Meet Tigger, the newest FURR Kitty ready for adoption! Despite being abandoned by his irresponsible owner and left outside to fend for himself, Tigger is a real sweetheart! Fortunately, he was found by a good Samaritan and is being fostered at the moment. So Tigger is safe, but needs immediate adoption! This good hearted foster cannot keep Tigger much longer!

I have the sweetest little meow and I love to tell everybody what I’m thinking! You just won’t find a calmer, more laid back kinda kitty than me! I’m totally vetted and ready to move on with my life. FURR has prepared me well! I also have 2 sisters: Beaches (meet her below), who looks just like me and Mermaid (meet her below) who is a tortoise shell. We all three had a rough start in life. July 3, 2025 – LUCY, one of the two FURR cats adopted 4 years ago, however we’re very sad to report that her loving owner, Carol, recently died, so it became necessary for her family to return her and her best friend, Percy, to FURR. If possible, Lucy and Percy need to stay together as they were adopted together as kittens 4 years ago. They are both sweet as can be and need a new FURR-ever home as soon as possible!
2024 Lucy is Adopted! We’re so happy that Carol Dubin, one of FURR’s most generous supporters, has given this sweet girl her FURR-ever home!

July 2, 2021 Gray Lady’s 2nd tiny kitten (Willy’s sibling), LUCY is fairly good weight and she is adorable. She is very laid back, tamed up easily and she is a beautiful spotted gray tabby short haired. She is doing well and only a teensy shy. You can pick her up and handle her. She was touch and go for a few weeks, but she seems fine now and the vet says she is healthy. LUCY is not fixed yet, but going through her series of shots and vet visits. She tested negative and should be spayed within the next couple of weeks.

November 24, 2024 BADGER’S HAPPY ENDING!!! BADGER, the declawed Russian Blue male cat that was ABANDONED in a carrier with a kitten, has found his happy home!
Badger & Swirls were BOTH left inside a carrier together & left at a scrap yard !!! Thank goodness the carrier was found before they DIED in there and Kristy & other rescue folks contacted me!
Badger went to a wonderful foster home to live until we could get him checked out at the vet & fatten him up. He was VERY skinny & looked pretty rough with an unkept coat, etc.
Once we got healthy & happy, I had a million calls for him, but one family really suited him the best! They have 2 little girls and Badger is getting more love than he knows what to do with! These whole family is thrilled to have this sweet & beautiful cat! The pictures tell it all! My heart is so happy!!! Terry >^,,^<
November 5, 2024 The beautiful declawed male Russian Blue mix has been adopted by a wonderful family! This kitty was left for dead in a carrier in a scrap yard!!! Inside the carrier with him was Swirls!!!

I would love to prosecute people that abandon animals this way. With more and more camera surveillance going on, people better beware! I take this very seriously and it is now a federal offense to abandoned an animal! Jail time and a fine will be coming your way if caught!
BADGER is the sweetest boy and has been in a wonderful foster home for a few months. He will be going to his new home this weekend! I’m so thrilled the family has 2 young teen girls that are totally smitten with BADGER! Life for him will be great!
Last, but definitely not least is an emotional one for me……EXTREMELY emotional! In fact, I can’t even type this without bawling my eyes out….

December 19, 2024 Update on Swirl & Connor! Kittens have been doing great even after only one day! They are playing, sleeping with Penny and keeping her entertained!
Penny laughed about the cats shredding her newspaper this morning! I’m glad she found it humorous and I’m sure Swirls & Connor (now “Bingo”) enjoyed it!

December 16, 2024 CONNOR & SWIRLhave arrived at their new home! HAPPY BUT SAD NEWS today saying goodbye to two of the best rescue kitties we’ve ever had!!!
Both left today with their new & wonderful mom, Penny, and made their way to their new VA home! Watch them happily explore!
Wow, I’m really gonna miss those cute kitties and their unbelievably kind nature. We don’t get personalities like that every day. Although all of our cats are amazing in their own ways, these two were just that cream of the crop!
Thanks to Deb & Rick for helping match up this trio (Deb is Penny’s sister) and I look forward to getting updates. Penny did text me & they arrived safe and sound. She sent me a very short video of the cats chasing each other only moments after being let out of their carriers!!!

November 5, 2024 CONNOR & SWIRL are being adopted TOGETHER! My heart is so happy, but I will miss those purrrrr motors and sweet faces so much! They will be traveling to VA sometime in Dec. I don’t usually adopt out of town, but this lady is the sister of one of our HUGE supporters & adopters!!! I trust her explicitly & could not be more excited! I will send pictures later with their new mom!

Connor’s rescuers – June 2024
June 3, 2024 We have a new little fellow at FURR! His name is “Connor” and he is about 6 weeks old. He is an adorable, happy and tiny little tuxedo boy. He is totally precious!!!
The kind mother and daughter that saved him drove him all the way to FURR from Charlotte after getting my OK. They trusted FURR to take great care of him and find him the right home.
Our sweet little kitten Wendy will be leaving soon (gosh the kittens go fast) so now Bridgett will have a playmate.
