Pine Oak with New Parents Chuck & Tina – Nov 2016
Can you believe it!!! I got a call from the young couple that adopted Pine Sap, one of Mama Pine Oak’s kittens. I was told that the parents had fallen in love with Pine Sap’s mama on line, hence, Pine Oak! Last weekend when I was out of town taking care of my parents (my Dad was just in a car accident….but ok), they had come out to see and meet Mama Pine Oak! They absolutely fell in love with her!!! I spent the weekend on the phone with them and it was apparent to me that they would be the perfect home! They currently did not have any animals and really were ready for another kitty! I got home from Wilmington late Monday afternoon, but they wanted her! So, I got all of her records together and delivered her to her new home! Tina & Chuck are her new parents and they are totally smitten!!! What a lucky break for this mama cat! Usually, as you know, all the kittens get adopted quickly, and the mama cats (like Mama Mia!) wait and wait and wait for a home! This is such a happy adoption! This is the note I got from them, and I quote:
“She’s doing really well! We’ve already opened the bathroom door so she has the run of the bathroom and our bedroom! She’s eating really well and is such a diva about her litter box! She’ll talk to us and purrs like a motorboat! We love her so much and she loves us! She’s so affectionate! What did we do without her?”
That says it all! Happy trails Mama Pine Oak!!! We will miss you! You were a terrific mama kitty!

I guess I finally need to break the news and let everyone know that TUX & TOPAZ have been adopted!!!
This is a tough one for me to type since I feel like these two cats are FAMILY!!! I can’t imagine the lodge without being greeted by TUX every day! He is the lover boy of the century and has been our mascot for the past SEVERAL years!!!
BUT, it is so unfair to keep them at FURR in one little room when there is a family out there that wants them! It took me quite a while to be able to approve of someone “worthy” enough to take these two kitties! I think this is a beautiful and wonderful fit!
The couple that adopted HISSY & PEPE are in love with their two new additions! HISSY & PEPE are doing GREAT and I will send you some pictures in a separate email. During this adoption, I met their daughter (Abby Grace) who was about to graduate from Liberty with her nursing degree. She has already landed a great job in Rock Hill, SC! Abby Grace is graduating this month and then taking a week vacation with her family. When she returns, she will be living with her parents for a year to save money & get her own place. She has a long term boyfriend that I met also and his name is Mike.
When AG and Mike come to FURR to visit Tux & Topaz, Mike has made an amazing connection with Topaz! He brushes her and pets her and she really likes him! It is so wonderful to see her happy! TUX and TOPAZ will live in the upstairs of the house for a while and Hissy and Pepe will live downstairs for a while……..I am sure they will all get along and be fine after a few weeks of adjustment period!
TUX & TOPAZ are leaving on Monday, May 20th. I may need someone to go with me since I will be a total mess leaving them. This is so wonderful for these two cats that have waited SO LONG for a home! It is bittersweet to me & I already cry at the drop of a hat thinking of them being gone from FURR……….

Sweet “Orange & White!” kitty returned to FURR after adoption due to a “change in personality”!!! Watch her video to see how great she is now!
Beautiful cat left FURR healthy at about 12 pounds and was returned at JUST UNDER 17 POUNDS! Not only was she being terrorized and chased by the other household cats, she was also only 12 pounds when she left the facility and just under 17 pounds when brought back. Being overweight is a health hazard, it also reduces a cat’s self-esteem and abilities. This obese girl had lost all of her confidence and could not even clean herself!
But after getting lots of love, care, and attention TOPAZ is now healthy again, feeling a lot better about herself, and is ready to move on to a special forever home. Although she gets along well with other kitties, she is also fine by herself, and due to her quiet, gentle disposition she would be a perfect fit in a senior home. TOPAZ just wants to be loved and she will be so very grateful and loving in return!
This sweet, quiet kitty is very dear to us and we will miss her, but it is time she finds a permanent home. Please give TOPAZ the opportunity to share that special forever home with you. We know you will be happy with her and she will be a loving, wonderful companion to you.

Pandora and her younger sister Anklet were rescued from a horrible situation living behind a gas station! Both are torties, very similar in color and markings, with Pandora having a light stripe between her eyes which enables you to easily tell them apart. They are affectionate and exceptionally friendly – always there to greet you at the door and ready to play. Round and round they go, chasing a red dot or a wand – happy, playful, loving kitties. They put a smile on everyone’s face. Watch her video!
Adorable & playful, Pandora has been tested for feline aids/leukemia (negative!). How could you even think of saying ‘NO’ to that little face?

SHINEY is a very special kitty. This handsome young boy falls somewhere between being a kitten and adolescent. His unique orange coat is beautiful – soft and purrfect in every way, and he is just as sweet as he is beautiful! The foster person who had him before he was brought to FURR just cried when he left.
SHINEY is amazing in every way – he loves making “biscuits”, purrs all the time, plays well alone and with other kitties, and is always waiting at the door to greet the volunteers when they arrive – he is a once in a lifetime boy, you are sure to fall in love with him.
If you are looking to bring a ray of sunshine into your life, SHINEY is the boy for you. We all love him – he is not only sweet but lots of fun. When he leaves SHINEY will be sorely missed by all of the volunteers as well as the other kitties with whom he plays and interacts so well. But it’s only fair that he move on to a loving forever home. Please consider letting this special boy share his life with you. He will give you lots of love and brighten up your days in return.

During PetSmart weekend (May 13-14, 2017) Mary and I talked about her adopting her 2 long-term foster kitties, Hudson and Tori. We decided that would be best since she had been fostering them for SO long and we did not have any potential adopter .

Hudson comes to life with purrs and “kitty biscuit-making”.He loves to make biscuits anywhere…lying down, standing up (looks like his is marching), lying on his back with paws in the air, on the wall next to where he is lying…anywhere. He is a silly little fellow you can’t help but fall in love with.

“Why me?” is a hoot! This laid back boy kitten has the cutest expression on his face! He has this sad-looking face with heavy-looking eyebrows, but he is far from sad! He is totally playful, extremely sociable and cannot wait to be held and loved!
It is no wonder that he is happy now after being rescued by a woman who found him in the mouth of her dog with a 2nd dog waiting for his chance! The poor little kitten was just skin and bones and bruised up pretty good being played with between two Weimaraner dogs!!! Thank goodness the dogs were just playing with him or he would have been killed!

Update September 2016 – This picture says it all! As you can see, WHYME and RUSTIE are best buds and absolutely are inseparable! Their MOM tells me that they bring so much joy to her life every day!

Mia and her daughter Sweetie Pie, who is only about six months younger, are both very docile and friendly kitties. Watch Mia’s video! She really loves the companionship of people as well as other kitties and to be brushed and petted. They are gentle and loving and enjoy playing and chasing a red dot and wand. We think she looks like a panda bear and adore her pink nose.
