MELBA was rescued by FURR living under a house with no mom. MELBA & her sister, MELISSA – who is still available, were struggling to survive before being rescued. These two sisters are now just as happy as can be, running, playing and enjoying full tummies! Now, these super adorable kittens only need YOU!

Gray & white WYLIE COYOTE kitten! 90 miles an hour! Was born to a feral mama cat while in animal control & was scheduled to be euthanized with his mom & sister, WENDIEjust because mom was feral! While had never been out of a cage until FURR rescued the family. Now, he is just beside himself with happiness & bursts of energy! Wylie is just the cutest thing ever!

Although the beautiful FERN did not work out at her original adopter’s home, FURR took her back and was determined to find her the PURRFECT home this time. Sometimes, not often, it just does not turn out to be a good match for kitty and adopter. BUT, a NEW home was found! One of our newer Kitty Happy Hour volunteers, PAM OPALKA fell in love with FERN and looked forward to visiting her every week. PAM brushed FERN and talked to her and developed a relationship with her.
I knew PAM was thinking about getting a kitty, since sadly losing one recently, but I never thought it would be FERN! What a wonderful surprise when she told me that it was FERN that she wanted! She was adamant about making sure FERN would have the best home ever with lots of love, attention and brushing. It sounded wonderful and FERN would be the only kitty. PAM, being retired and living at Sun City, would have lots of time to work with FERN. She is determined to make sure FERN is happy and loved!
I am thrilled about the re-homing for FERN! I remember how adorable she was when Debbie Pope and I trapped her along with all the other colony cats at the closed down produce/plant stand in Monroe. Here are some pictures of her! She is amazingly beautiful!!! THANK YOU PAM for giving FERN a new home!!!

Fern, and her sister Myrtle, were rescued from an abandoned shopping center and were just skin & bones when FURR saved them! She is such a GORGEOUS cat, long hair and really sweet! She is ready to be loved and is so grateful for the slightest amount of attention! Be the one to give her a better life and realize how lucky you would be to have her. ADOPTED in January 2018!
The wonderful, incredible lady named “Linda” that adopted our rescued kitty “BOYFRIEND” called to say she was coming to visit. She lives in OHIO and if you remember, Kathleen one of our very devoted & long time volunteers…….who is also a flight attendant), kindly flew BOYFRIEND to OHIO AND drove him to meet Linda. BOYFRIEND has turned out to be the love of Linda & her husband’s life, but Linda occasionally asked about GIRLFRIEND, the kitty that was rescued with BOYFRIEND. We still had GIRLFRIEND here at FURR. She was pregnant when we saved her and she ultimately had kittens. GIRLFRIEND was so emaciated that she could barely produce enough milk for her babies. We took the best care of her that we could, and thankfully all of the babies made it. They were all absolutely gorgeous and have since all been adopted to wonderful homes.
Linda said that she wanted to meet me and come to FURR while in town. Se said that she definitely wanted to meet GIRLFRIEND. I explained to Linda that GIRLFRIEND was drop dead gorgeous, but she was still very shy and scared. We could love on her, pet her, brush her and love on her, but she would still occasionally hiss (for no good reason) and she was very scared of being picked up. Linda wanted to meet the kitty that BOYFRIEND loved at one time!!!
BOYFRIEND is a whole other story for me to tell…….he is doing fantastic and besides being the love of their lives, he has actually done some miraculous things that make him even more special than we ever thought possible!!!
Linda met me and GIRLFRIEND – Linda is sooooo much like me! She is so emotional about the cats and can really feel for their thoughts and look deep into their hearts. Linda just loved petting GIRLFRIEND and enjoyed spending time soothing her and petting her. She fell in love with her! The next thing I knew, she said that she wanted to take her home to OHIO and let her live with and be with BOYFRIEND again! OMG!!!
We started working on the plans, and Linda wanted to fly her home the next day when she was returning to OH. I was such an emotional wreck knowing that GIRLFRIEND was leaving AND that she was going to be on a plane!!! …………but, knowing her ultimate home was absolutely wonderful and a dream come true, I knew it just had to work out!!! Praying to GOD that all goes well, I called Kathleen who is experienced with this “cat flying” stuff! Kathleen assured me and Linda that all would be ok and that GIRLFRIEND “would” have to be taken out of the carrier while TSA took the carrier out of room. I was so scared that GIRLFRIEND would freak out or get away!!!
Believe it or not, all went great! Linda was confident and wonderful! She took GIRLFRIEND out of the carrier in a small room and waited for the carrier to be returned. GIRLFRIEND tucked her head in Linda’s lap and never moved! She went back into her carrier and off they went!
Well, it gets better!!!
GIRLFRIEND got to Linda’s house and did great! She is in the bedroom with Linda, her husband and BOYFRIEND! GIRLFRIEND was even on the bed with them and slept with them the first night! I have a picture that will just bring tears to your eyes! When they say that there is a happy story waiting for every rescued cat, well, this one is TRUE!!!
I am forever grateful to Linda for loving GIRLFRIEND and giving her a loving home. I miss GIRLFRIEND so much, but I just couldn’t be happier! This is truly one of the happiest stories I had the privilege of telling!!!

TOMMY KITTY is doing so GREAT in his new home! His new dad, MARCO, says that TOMMY is eating, drinking, pooping & playing! Tommy loves his new LARGE cat tree and seems to be doing great! I am so relieved that he is doing well. I was thinking he would be shy a little longer, but he really is doing just fine & adjusting well! Soon, Tommy will be meeting his new big brother, “Rusty”, who is a 4 yr old super sweet orange tabby kitty! I bet in no time these 2 kitties will be chasing each other up and down the stairs! Marco is doing a wonderful job, however, taking his time before introducing them! I am just so happy for this sweet bob tail kitty and his new family!!! We will surely miss him. He is super cute with his little bob tail that wags and his sweet personality! Best of luck sweet TOMMY!!! We will surely MISS you!
Tommy’s Story
Tommy showed up in the middle of a feral colony searching for food. Who in the world dumped this adorable little bob tailed boy? He was skinny, skittish and starving! Luckily, he showed up in the colony of a very caring cat lady that immediately trapped him! She knew he was young and very out of place. She took him home, worked on taming him and getting him to trust her and then started looking for a rescue to take him. Tommy is so adorable being a young gray tabby with a stub tail that he actually wags!!!
I told the rescuer, Pam, that I would take Tommy as soon as I had room and put him on my waiting list. As soon as I could (last week) I took this little stray kitten into the FURR rescue. He was a bit scared at first and had really bonded with Pam as his new mommy. It was sad watching Pam leave him at FURR because he ran to the door after her when she left! I don’t know who was more pitiful, Tommy or Pam!!!
Now, TOMMY has made friends with all the kittens in his room. He is absolutely adorable and is about 5-6 months old. We are going to find a wonderful and “purrfect” home for this little guy! He is very very special!!!

DANCING KITTY!!! This AMAZINGLY sweet kitty starts kneading biscuits as soon as you look at her! Watch her video!
She is the most gentle, loving cat we have ever had at FURR! This kitty would be great with other kitties, children, family, etc. She is extremely special!!! WINNIFURR is only about a year old and was rescued living underneath a church crawl space! WINNIFURR is ready to go and she also talks when she is happy which is most of the time! Don’t miss the opportunity to meet this truly amazing kitty! She has a one of a kind personality!!!
I had a trap set at the Waxhaw Methodist Church because I had a call last week (late September 2017) about 2 little kittens living underneath the church with NO mama in site. After a short time, I found the MAMA KITTY in my trap! I took her home and she was screaming, hissing and running back and forth in the trap. I set up a cage in the office and gave her some food and water, turned off the light to help her relax and went back to check on the other trap. (I had set 2 traps) but, no luck – no kittens.
When I got back to the lodge, I went in to see the mama kitty and she had cleaned her bowl completely clean. She seemed to have settled down some. I carefully reached in to get the empty bowl out of there and she did not make a sound. I started talking to her and she started purring! The look in her eyes changed a bit since an hour or so before and I decided to see if she would let me pet her. Low and behold, she started making biscuits and purring up a storm! She was acting as if she had never been petted in her life and she was LOVING it! She was almost marching. It was amazing and I was thrilled! I was able to deworm her, put REVOLUTION on her and I gave her some more food!

This poor little kitten lived underneath the buggy carts at a Target store eating scraps for TWO weeks before FURR was called. He was SO tiny (about 8 weeks) and SO skinny. No one could catch him but FURR immediately went out and trapped the little guy. He was purring as soon as we got him out of the trap and cuddled him!
BUGGY has amazing and unusual light blue eyes and he is happy as a lark with anyone that will spend time with him! This kitten will be the epitome of the “great male orange tabby” being called the best cats in the world! He’s gonna be one of those!
