August 2, 2026 The Meezers got adopted!

A couple weeks ago our two gorgeous Siamese sisters got a new & wonderful home!!!  These 2 girls, TIPPY & FINNY, were trapped & rescued as teens at the Atlantic Seafood place in Hampstead.

These girls were 2 of the 70 cats I rescued from the Atlantic Seafood place before it was completely torn down!

Tippy was named after a Black Tip Shark.  Finny was simply named after all the fish with fins!

These 2 stunning blue-eyed Siamese mix kitties were always a little timid and shy, but I knew, given the chance, they would do great in a home…..just the 2 of them together!

A wonderful lady saw the good in these cats and the beauty they exhibited!  The adopter is a dog trainer, so that thrilled me knowing she would have the patience and understanding these “Meezers” needed!

The sisters were quite scared at first, but are slowly improving just as I knew they would.

A camera was placed in their room & im attaching a funny video at their new home!

I have complete confidence that the Meezers are in the “purrfect” home.  I know they will get the love, understanding & patience needed while waiting for their confidence to build.  It WILL happen because it always does!  The more time the Meezers get petted, hand fed, talked to & handled, the quicker they will realize that they are safe!  It may take a few months, but it will be so rewarding when it does!

Look at these pictures!  Two of the most beautiful, kind & humble cats we ever rescued!

Early July, 2026 Salvie is Adopted! See her in the photo above relaxing in her new home.

Here is her story …

My niece & her roommate found SALVIE roaming around outside a Salvation Army store!

When they asked inside about the cat, they said she must have been dropped off & Animal Control was about to be called!  They did NOT want a kitty anywhere near the store.

This kitty was very friendly and wanted to be rubbed & held!

My niece & her roommate brought her home & called FURR to rescue her.

I called her “SALVIE” and she was a wonderful, beautiful cat!  We got her healthy, spayed & shots.  She was so happy to be at FURR & she loved all of us volunteers…..BUT!  She never took a liking to the other cats!

I don’t think she thought of herself as a cat!  We knew she would be happy in a home with no other cats to steal away any attention.

A wonderful couple adopted SALVIE & they LOVE her!  She is living her best life now & although we miss her, we are thrilled for her great opportunity to have a home!

Feb. 6, 2026🐾 PAWS FOR THE CAUSE – FOX WILMINGTON 🐾

Terry appears on Fox News Wilmington’s “Paws for the Cause” Program with Salvie! Watch their video!

Meet this beautiful 8-month-old female kitty who is ready for her forever home! 💕

She is already spayed, up to date on shots, blood tested, and ready to go. This sweet girl is a domestic short-haired dilute gray tortie with an incredibly soft coat and a BIG personality!

✨ What makes her special:
• Sweet, affectionate, and playful
• Energetic and loves to chat
• Doesn’t like other cats and has NO idea she’s one!
• Absolutely LOVES people and being the center of attention

She would do best as the only cat, soaking up all the love and cuddles from her humans. 🐱💙

Dec. 14, 2025 Yesterday my niece called me.  She & her roommate went to the Salvation Army to drop off some things and a young kitty came running up to them screaming for food & attention.

They asked the SA folks about the cat & they had called animal control to pick her up.  Several employees were allergic to cats, so they did not want her hanging around the store.

No doubt, someone dumped her there. She was extremely sweet.

My niece asked me to take her & I agreed to take her under FURR, but that she would have to foster her until we had room.

“SALVIE” is really precious, not microchipped & now safe, warm & fed in my niece’s bathroom!

Oct. 17, 2026 MAMA BATTS HAS A HOME!!!

PRAISE THE LORD!!!

This little sweet, shy black overlooked girl has waited soooo long for a chance at love & home!!!

The wonderful, kind & compassionate fella that adopted Runny (another sweet shy overlooked black kitty) agreed to take Mama B!  She will be a friend for Runny & both kitties knew each other before.

Both of these kitties had a hard start in life & suffered before being rescued at FURR.

Runny lived in an abandoned car wash & had a horrible painful infected runny eye.  She survived because Kristy fed her every day until FURR had room to take her in.

The poor kitty now has an amazing home & she’s an uptown girl living in a beautiful high rise condo downtown Wilmington with huge windows & a view of the pool!

Now, Mama Batts has joined her & we are so thrilled!  It’s a dream come true for 2 little black female kitties!

Mama Batts story was posted in the Pawprints magazine this month (see attached).  I also wrote a story beside her ad about the fate of black dogs & cats.  It’s unbelievably sad.

BUT!!!  This story is a happy one for 2 little black kitties!  I miss them both so much!

---

September 2026 Meet Mama B – one of our sweetest little angels. However, Mama B prefers to be an only kitty.

Watch her 2 new videos!:

• In this video, Terry shows her sweet nature and beautiful black fur.
• In this video, Terry shows how much she loves to play!

See her full page ad in the October 2026 PawPrints magazine!

Here is her amazing story …

She was violated at an early age, but successfully raised 4 kittens so now she needs to rest and relax!

When FURR trapped her as a homeless cat and took her to spay/neuter clinic, we were told she was nursing kittens! So I put a tracking collar on her released her and sure enough she went straight back to her NEW born kittens inside of an abandoned boat!

All 4 of her kittens have since been adopted including the daddy cat that I also rescued! Meet her daughter Emmy, adopted with Bubbles, and her sons Oscar & Tony.

Mama B is a sweet little black fuzz ball & LOVES to be scratched & brushed! She is healthy and no trouble at all! She is constantly overlooked for adoption because people assume that she is nothing special, but far from it! She’s a little angel and someone very lucky will be taking her home!!!

Sept. 6, 2026 UPDATE ON RUNNY!!!

I will quote you what RUNNY’S new dad sent to me….made me cry & I could hardly tell Kristy about it! It’s a wonderful blessing!!!

Here is what he text me about RUNNY:

She’s doing sooo good! She’s not eating a lot but loves treats & is using the litter box. She’s gotten quite curious the last 2 nights when I go to visit her. She runs out the bedroom door and runs straight to the front windows & sits in the sill. Then she sniffs around a bit and goes back to her room. Im giving her plenty of love!

Ms. Bertie (her new name) is very vocal in the am’s and raises her tail! She wants me to rub her & follow her. She is so so sweet and gentle. She’s a very picky eater and does things the Bertie way like having me bring food right to her nose and then she eats it! If I pet her just a little, she demands belly rubs & “scritches”! (and inside funny joke) I am so so thankful that I chose her! Thank you so much for saving her.

---

Aug. 25, 2026 Yesterday was a GREAT day! “RUNNY” was adopted!!! It is so wonderful to see this beautiful black kitty go to an amazing home! The gentleman that adopted her is quite smitten with her! When he came to FURR last week, RUNNY was rubbing all over him, giving him head butts & rolling over for belly rubs! This poor kitty was discovered by Kristy, one of our very own FURR volunteers. Kristy found RUNNY living in an abandoned car wash with several other homeless cats. Over time, together, Kristy & I rescued all the cats there including RUNNY. RUNNY had an injured eye & Kristy told me about her….she said, “you know, the cat with the runny eye!” It took several vet visits & an eye specialist to fix her eye, but we DID! She is “purrfect” now and in a great home downtown Wilmington on the 7th floor of a high rise on the river! She has huge windows to look out & lots of activity to view! Here is a picture of RUNNY before, after & with her new adopter! Kristy & I both cried when we delivered her. She had come so far from when we got her. She was thin & scared. She left FURR fat & loving! WE LOVE U FURREVER RUNNY CAT!!!

March 8, 2026 This adorable kitty IS READY TO GO!  She is the softest, squishiest, fuzziest, sweetest cat EVER!

Watch her video!

All RUNNY wants is to be cuttled, petted & rubbed!  She lives for it!  RUNNY would be scratched than eat!  I absolutely LOVE this feral converted kitty & so happy that FURR rescued her!

Please share!  She would LOVE to be an only kitty & I truly believe she would really like to sleep in the bed with her kitty person!

RUNNY is only a couple years old & came to FURR with a severe eye injury.  She has completely healed & is absolutely beautiful!

Come meet her today!  She is one in a million!

Early July 2026 – Adorable Wildflower (above) is adopted and reunited with her Mom Bailey (tortie on right)!

Here is Wildflower’s story along her family –

I got a call from the family that needed help trapping a mama cat & 4 kittens.  The family was so great to follow my every suggestion & they managed to trap & rescue all 5 kitties!

FURR assisted in the vet work for the kitties & FURR took in the 4 kittens:  Fern, Wildflower, Forrest & Woody.  The family adopted the mom kitty, BAILEY, and 3 of the 4 kittens got adopted.

WILDFLOWER, however, was extremely timid and had not been adopted in almost a year.  Despite her amazing beauty & small petite size, no one so far was willing to give her a chance.

The original Rescue family saw that we still had WILDFLOWER & said they wanted her!  She will be reunited with her mom, Bailey!

This family is very patient & loving and they will give WILDFLOWER a lifetime of love & care.

You can see that WILDFLOWER was quite scared in the picture not knowing who is holding her, but the reports that I am getting is that she is doing better every day!

We have this message from her “FURR-ever” home:

“WILDFLOWER is slowing coming out of her shell, she is eating & doing pretty good.  All it takes is patience & love!  I am so grateful to this family for giving WILDFLOWER an opportunity to belong!”

Dec. 6, 2025 – Our silly little FERN (shown left with new Mom) now has a new & wonderful home!  Her new adopters have a SWEET older kitty & wanted a 2nd!

FERN has hit the jackpot with this couple and I’m confident that she will be loved & cared for!!!  The older kitty is super friendly & curious about everything (just like FERN!)

I’m soooo happy for this kitten that was trapped with 3 siblings living in the woods before FURR came to the rescue!

Hooray!

Nov. 13, 2025 Beautiful Wildflower and Fern are still available! See the September updates below for new photos of these sweet girls!

Nov. 7, 2025 Forrest is adopted! It didn’t take long for this BEAUTIFUL kitten to get adopted!  I delivered him today after interviews, meetings, home visit & application!  This couple has another BEAUTIFUL young 3 yr old cat that is really sweet & needed a friend!  I think it’s a great match & im so happy for my kitten trapped from the woods in Rocky Point!

It’s so hard to say goodbye to these kitties, but I know i have to.  Adoptions give homes to former homeless cats and opens a space to save another one!

Im looking forward to seeing pictures of FORREST & his new future girlfriend kitty playing together!

He will be missed at FURR!!!

Oct. 20, 2025 Woody is adopted along with Autumn! Wildflower, Fern and Forrest are still available – please see their stories below.

A really nice couple with 2 sweet little girls came to FURR a couple of times to look at kitties. Over the weekend, they texted me that they had made a decision & wanted AUTUMN & WOODY!!!

I trimmed the 2 kitty’s nails, copied all the paperwork, packed up food & litter & delivered them today.  I cried!  I’m not so attached to Woody because he is a kitten (and everybody loves kittens) but Autumn was quite special to me.  I trapped her as a feral cat & we worked with her for over a year.  She turned out to be extremely grateful for her rescue!  The lady that fed her (and 2 other cats) left them abandoned & moved away leaving all 3 cats.

I trapped all 3.  Two of the cats went to another rescue and I kept Autumn (i was too full already).

Anyway, Autumn turned around & became a hilarious, fun-loving kitty with a BIG personality!  She loved to rub on everybody’s face & head.  I called her the “hair messer-upper” cat!

I will send more pictures later, but both Autumn & Woody settled right in and I’m so happy for both of them.  I wish them a wonderful life from here forward & I am grateful that I could be their beginning!

Sept. 22, 2025 Adorable updated photos of these kittens – now youngsters! In order from left to right in the photo above:

WILDFLOWER – Long haired girl gray tabby colored
WOODY – Short haired boy light orange/buff colored
FERN – Short haired girl gray tabby colored
FORREST– Long haired boy bright orange tabby colored

August 26, 2025 It turns out that Kathy & her granddaughter,  Maxine, we’re RIGHT when they told me that little Wildflower sounded like she was having trouble breathing.

After a couple days of sounding funny, Wildflower got a LOT worse & sounded like she was struggling to breathe.

I rushed her to Sound Cat & they sedated her & examined her throat saying she needed to be scoped with an endoscope to really see what’s going on.

NC State told me that I could come up, but would be on a waiting list to get her scoped.  No thanks @ $1,000 a day!  The Wilmington Animal ER said that their doc that does the endoscopic exams was booked this week & on vacation next week!

My sister & I worked quickly to fine a vet with a scope & thank goodness, Needham Animal Hospital had one & a very well known vet named Dr. Batts that said he could see Wildflower the NEXT day!

I took her to Dr. Batts & he did surgery on her!  She had a lump in her throat that he had to remove.  Luckily, after worrying about it, she came out of surgery fine!  The lump was biopsied & was not cancer & was not a polyp.  It was caused by some sort of trauma to her throat & could be from her spay surgery.  We will never know, but she is doing great now!

WHEWWW!

The growth is not expected to return according to Dr. Batts.

What a blessing!!! This beautiful little angel is ready for adoption!

July 3, 2025 – Rescued kittens are ready for adoption! Watch them play in their video! Shown above from left to right are:

FURR took in FOUR KITTENS trapped in the woods in Rocky Point, NC!  A really wonderful Samaritan followed my exact instructions and trapped 4 little kittens and their mama.  This family was starving and homeless!

FURR took in the kittens after a couple of weeks and the lady that rescued them kept the mama kitty.

These 4 kittens are now healthy and happy!

We have:

2 orange ones!

2 gray ones!

2 short haired!

2 long haired!

2 girls!

2 boys!

So, you see, we have a great variety to choose from!

ADORABLE, GREAT PURR MOTORS & VERY PLAYFUL!!!

Feb. 15, 2026 LEMA was adopted yesterday & I feel really good about it!  The young retired couple just fell in love with her at FURR.  Of course, what’s not to love!  I had a LOT of inquiries on LEMA, but this seemed like the best fit.

The couple has another 3 yr old shy kitty that needed a friend.  They also had an adorable little senior dog.

LEMA has adjusted well for only being at her new home for 2 days.  I think this adoption is gonna be a success!

We will really miss LEMA @ FURR!  She was so friendly & she was our door greeter for room 1!

April 12, 2026 BLUE MARLIN ADOPTED…..FINALLY!  HOORAY!

It’s been a long road baby!  The foster parents that had BLUE FISH & BLUE MARLIN contacted me.  Since our poor poor kitty, BLUE FISH, passed away, BLUE MARLIN has been so sad & depressed.  MARLIN developed a UTI and had to go to the vet.

Both BLUE FISH & BLUE MARLIN had been so close and had been together for over two years.

The foster mom, shown above, had been wanting to rehome both cats for over a year now which has been very stressful for me.

The husband had gotten a large very energetic dog that wanted to chase the cats.  Keeping the cats & the dog separated was causing problems.  The wife wanted to keep the cats & the husband wanted to keep the new dog.

As time passed, and BLUE FISH passed away unexpectedly, BLUE MARLIN became very attached to and dependant on the wife.  She gave him meds to help with his UTI and said that MARLIN was sleeping with her.

The dog had seemed to make a little progress in training & the wife and I both agreed that a rehoming for MARLIN right now would be horrible & stressful for him.

She talked with her husband & he finally agreed to let her keep MARLIN & adopt him!

March 1, 2026 PawPrints Magazine features Blue Marlin on the cover of it’s March 2026 issue!

What a handsome boy!

Read Blue Marlin’s article!

He’s more in need of a FURR-ever home than ever after his brother and best friend, Blue Fish, passed away last month. Read their photos and rescue story below.

Feb. 15, 2026 Sadly, BLUE FISH went to Heaven this past week.

The foster who has BLUE MARLIN & BLUE FISH called me urgently & said that BLUE FISH was struggling to breathe.

I told her to rush him to the emergency vet.  BLUE FISH was checked out, had xrays & was put on oxygen.

The xrays showed his airways were blocked & his lungs were struggling.  It was told to me that he would not improve.  Sadly & suddenly, this precious beautiful boy had to be put to sleep.

It just rips your heart out to think about a 2 yr old kitty leaving this world so soon.  He leaves behind his loving partner, Blue Marlin.  The 2 cats were inseparable.

The “Blues Brothers” as I called them, have been together for 2 years.  They are not really brothers and were a year apart, but they looked alike and were attached.

I asked the foster to keep me posted on how Blue Marlin was handling things, and she told me that he seemed to be ok….

Meanwhile, I have to go pick up Blue Fish’s ashes tomorrow and that will be hard.

The foster still wants to get Blue Marlin out of her house asap because of the dog that they purchased that wants to chase & possibly eat the cat.

Please say a prayer for Blue Fish who has crossed over the rainbow bridge.  He was adorable, sweet & way way too young to leave this world.  I am just in disbelief.

Of course, i have to pay all his bills tomorrow for private cremation & vet hospital when I pick him up.  It’s just awful.

I hope we can find a home for Blue Marlin really soon.  He deserves a fresh start.

2025 – Perch now lives in FURR’s Sanctuary.

September 4, 2025 These poor cats had been adopted before, by another person who loved them, and she returned them when her house was condemned.  The house had a bat problem that couldn’t be fixed.

Now, BLUE FISH & BLUE MARLIN are up for adoption again.  They are beautiful, soft Russian Blue mix kitties, both with a white spot on their chest.

The two brothers have the same parents, but are a year apart from 2 different litters.  They came from the torn down seafood production plant where I rescued 70 cats.

These are the sweetest cats ever and are now, probably, around 5 years old.  They have been through so much.

May 19, 2025 Terry has decided it’s best for Perch to remain at FURR, living our Sanctuary with plenty of FURR-friends and all the kitty comforts, so he is no longer available for adoption.

---

October 20, 2024 Watch Blue Marlin’s new video! How could ANYONE “NOT” want this teddy bear and possibly one of his brothers!!!  This cat is like BIG pillow and soooo kind and sweet!

July 20, 2024 These two handsome brothers are doing great, having recently been returned to FURR, so once again they’re looking for a new home.   Terry adopted out Perch & Blue Marlin a couple months ago, however the adopter’s situation recently changed and, sadly, they are no longer able to keep these kitties.

While Terry follows a careful, thorough process to evaluate and approve interested adopters, sometimes things just don’t work out as planned. Fortunately, FURR accepts returns of kitties originally adopted from us to ensure they never again end up where they started – homeless and in need of rescue!

May 21, 2024 I finally approved of an adopter for my precious boys: PERCH & BLUE MARLIN!

---

Nov 2023 See how sweet and handsome Blue Marlin is in this latest photo and his new video! His brother, Perch, is not shown but they look just alike!

---

July 2023 I’m the sweetest boy and just a teensy shy, but OH I’m so soft and I love to be petted!!!  I get along great with all the other kitties and everyone at FURR loves me!  I am about a year old. I have a brother named Perch (mentioned in our Seafood Colony article) we look just alike!  What’s more beautiful than a silvery smooth Russian Blue mix!!!

March 16, 2026 Lilac is adopted by her Foster parents! We have foster failures among us & I couldn’t be happier!!!

Laura & Jim have been fostering our adorable little LILAC, the kitten I pulled from Duplin County pound.  It was a fluke and a long story about how I got involved with this rescue, but I’m so glad I did! Read this story dated Dec. 14, 2025 below!

Laura is recovering from her 2nd hip replacement surgery & she is doing well.  We miss her at FURR, but we know she will be back when she is able.

Meanwhile, Laura & Jim have fallen in love with Lilac and Lilac loves the dogs and all the other cats!

These pictures are priceless, and the one with 4 kitties (ALL adopted from FURR!!!) are sitting with Laura in her bedroom, is just heart warming!

Laura & Jim now have FOUR adopted FURR cats (photo above), 1 other cat & 2 rescued dogs!

I’m so happy for Lilac!  Thank you Laura & Jim for deciding to keep her & give her a loving home! CONGRATS LAURA & JIM! LOVE these pictures!

Feb. 26, 2026 – New playful photos of sweet, pretty Lilac!

Dec. 14, 2025 Yesterday I received several phone calls & emails about a kitten at animal control.  Many Rescue groups had been called & all were full.  I do not normally pull from animal control because I have such a waiting list of cats needing rescue right here in Hampstead.

It looked like this kitten was doomed, so I agreed to take it & put it in the only space I had:  the small people bathroom at FURR.

Kristy, a FURR Volunteer, drove to the animal control (which was out of town for me & a little closer to her) and she got the kitten.  I met her & picked it up.

Well, low & behold, it’s just about the cutest darn thing ive ever seen & just as sweet.  At only 8 weeks old, i was amazed at her happy ways!??

The kitten, named LILAC, stayed at FURR last night.  Thanks to Laura & Jim, the kitten now has an amazing foster home.

I was quite hesitant about handing this tiny, “purrfect” baby over.  Just seeing this kitten you’re smitten!  She won’t last long before being adopted!

Dec. 4, 2025 Bonnie and June kittens adopted together!

I’m trilled to share the picture of the wonderful & cat-loving couple that adopted BONNIE & JUNE!!!  The kittens are doing great and they have such an amazing home with their new adopters!

Many thanks to our FURR volunteers, the Lazours, who fostered the kittens for FURR due to space constraints.  I believe that Laura & Jim cared for & loved these little kitties so much that it helped them transition beautifully into a new home.

Also thanks to Marc & Sarah who alerted me to the kittens needing rescue.  It was so satisfying to get them trapped & out of the woods where they were living.

It takes a village!  Thanks to all who helped with these beautiful kittens!

Oct. 31, 2025 Major update and good news! BONNIE (Siamese mix) & JUNE (Russian Blue mix), the 2 kittens that I trapped & rescued from Rocky Point, NC, are doing great! I can’t thank Laura & Jim enough for fostering these 2 babies! FURR was completely overwhelmed!

Both are SUPER sweet, loving kittens! They love to play together & are healthy & happy sisters! They are now spayed, shots, tested, etc., and ready to go! They are still learning about humans, but coming along quickly! They would probably do best in a quieter home &, of course, priority given to adopters that are willing to keep them together!

BONNIE & JUNE certainly are GORGEOUS kittens with really soft fur! They will not last long, so text FURR soon if you want to squeeze them! Contact Terry Schultz, FURR’s President, at 864-483-2444.
