Sept. 17, 2019: Nike & Reebock Adopted! Here is their story!
Oh I just couldn’t believe how sweet this young couple was that came to FURR! The husband (Steve) got there first with their little toddler and he saw REEBOK. He immediately said I have GOT to call my wife! That looks JUST like her beloved kitty that has passed………It wasn’t long before wife, Tracy, showed up. When Tracy took one look at REEBOK, she started crying! It was so emotional that we all were feeling for her! She took REEBOK in her arms and just sobbed! Then I got out NIKE and gave him to Steve and it was just one of those “meant to be” moments! The young couple definitely wanted REEBOK, but wasn’t sure about getting 2 kitties at this time with busy jobs and a toddler, but after Steve came over to FURR that evening, they could not resist!

REEBOK & NIKE were both adopted together and now they live in a HUGE, NEW house filled with love! They will have lots of spaces to run and play! I could not be happier!!!
REEBOK & NIKE were born at our FURR rescue to a beautiful rescued mama kitty named “SOCKS”. We still have SOCKS and she is waiting for her opportunity also to have that loving home! SOCKS had 4 kittens when she was only a kitten herself and now she is ready for adoption at only a year old!
We will miss REEBOK & NIKE sooooooo much! It is hard to say goodbye when you have birthed the kittens yourself……..practically! We will always always love them!!!

Update: June 12, 2019: SAMANTHA WAS SPAYED YESTERDAY. She is doing well & resting in the cage in Pinky & Hooter’s room. She is LOVING attention and making biscuits! Please spend time with her and let her know she is loved! She is, of course, on pain meds!!! She must stay in her cage until at least Friday. Then I will discuss with JUDY about letting her out!
TWO OF SAMANTHA’S KITTENS: ALTO & ADANTE left for their new home! They are doing great & will be picked up by me in about 3 weeks to complete their neuter surgery and shots. The young lady that adopted them is absolutely inundated with them & having a ball! Right now, they are in her bedroom playing, climbing on their new cat tree, playing with toys and enjoying their new home!!!

MOM SAMANTHA has had her tough moments, but was lucky to be rescued by FURR just in time! She was living in the woods, trying to make it on her own when a good samaritan called FURR! SAMANTHA was just about to POP with babies and she was emaciated, covered in fleas and in a pretty bad state! FURR took her in and got her healthy, birthed SEVEN little babies and now the family is doing GREAT! SAMANTHA is only about 2 years old and she is very attached to the little boy kitten that looks just like her! It is so cute to see them together! FURR would really love it if someone would adopt the pair together! We will give a discount on the adoption fee just to keep them as a pair. SAMANTHA and NOCTURNE are completely vetted, blood checked, fixed, etc. They are both amazingly sweet! NOCTURNE is quite playful and just bounces around, where SAMANTHA puts up with his nonsense and just loves to cuddle with him! Come and visit this adorable mom & baby soon!!!

Original post: BOOTS has had it ROUGH! This beautiful, VERY colorful, sweet kitty has lived on her own underneath an abandoned house until she was rescued by FURR! She has been lucky enough to survive……..somehow! BOOTS is so grateful to be safe, warm, fed & loved! She is reciprocating with lots of purrs and biscuit making! BOOTS is only about a year old and just a love bug! She just cannot get enough pets…..she rolls around and gets very very excited when someone comes to see her! Update – Sept. 2019:HOW WONDERING IT IS THAT I CAN TELL YOU ALL THAT “WINTER” HAS BEEN ADOPTED TODAY … AGAIN!After her first adoption did not work out (VERY sadly for all due to unknown allergies!), WINTER has found the most terrific kitty mom ever, and that mom is Charlene!!! Charlene has already adopted one of our beautiful FURR rescues named “HANNAH” who has been living in total HEAVEN living with Charlene and NOW HANNAH will have a friend to play with!!! WINTER went to her new home tonight and she has settled in exceptionally well! After a nervous hour or so, Charlene reported back to me that she is eating, playing and totally relaxed in her “safe” room! HANNAH is sitting on a table watching WINTER’S door, but not seeming to care too much about what is on the other side, except to be curious. I have such a good feeling about this and I am SO happy for our 2 beautiful rescued kitties!!!I think Charlene will have LOTS of good photo opportunities for Christmas cards with these two GORGEOUS kitties living with her! (I’m sending some of Charlene’s photos of HANNAH, but there are SO many, I have to pick and choose…………which is hard because she is so amazingly photogenic!)THANK YOU CHARLENE FOR SAVING ANOTHER ONE!!!

A true calendar kitty, MISS HANNAH is the most beautiful cat we have ever seen! She looks like the model cat on the Fancy Feast cans!!!
Late December 2018 – Hannah’s Story
PetSmart Wesley Chapel called me a couple of weeks ago. A young girl brought in a kitty that she had been feeding outside her house for months. She was worried about the kitty because she was starving, filthy, covered in fleas and who knows what else. The cat hung around the young girl’s house, but the girl’s dad said she had to get rid of it.
Being concerned for the cat’s welfare, she took the cat to drop it off at Banfield, PetSmart. Of course, Banfield does not take in cats and therefore they called me. I went over to Banfield and saw that the cat was quite pretty, but I believed it might be someone’s pet……..obviously not cared for, but nevertheless, we cannot take someone’s pet.
I told the young girl to take the cat home & keep it in the bathroom while she posted on local media and put up fliers all around the neighborhood. Her dad agreed temporarily to keep the cat inside, but that it was only short term. The cat was scanned for a microchip at Banfield, but none was found. I went ahead and had the cat treated for fleas, blood tested and given her shots.
About a week went by with no response from the ads. Finally, after a week, a lady called me about the cat. She said it was her cat and that she keeps it outside. I told her the cat was filthy, covered in fleas and in BAD need of a dental cleaning and having a couple of bad teeth pulled that were probably causing her pain. The lady said she was not willing to put one dime into the cat and that she would rather put it to sleep than spend any money on it.
With that response, I asked her if she would sign the cat over to FURR. I knew this beautiful, friendly cat only needed her updated vet work and a dental, and then she would be easily adoptable. The lady agreed.
Hannah was feeling a little under the weather when we first got her. I do believe that she was full of worms, covered in fleas, malnourished, etc., and sometimes, just the medications and the high protein, good food that the rescue cats get can upset their system for a bit. Hannah has been on a course of antibiotics for a week now and she has been treated for all of her parasites. She is now happy and doing great!!! She is one of the most beautiful cats FURR has ever had and she is just as friendly as she can be!
This amazing girl is about 6-8 years “young” and healthy, spayed, blood tested & ready to go! She is the SOFTEST thing you have ever touched & she is just as sweet as she is pretty! HANNAH just wants to be HELD, BRUSHED & LOVED! She wants to be wherever you are and she will give you KISSES! This cat will NOT last long, so call to meet her soon! FURR will make sure she goes to the best & most loving home ever!!!
Please note that she prefers to be the ONLY beauty queen of the castle! (No other animals please).

December 2018 – HANSEL is Adopted! Check back soon for his FURR-ever home story!
HANSEL and GRETEL are two of the fluffiest and sweetest kittens ever! Hansel is an orange tabby with a hilarious personality as he runs up to greet anyone who will say hello! GRETEL is a lilac point, blue-eyed beauty, a tiny bit shy, but very sweet and super fluffy! As brother and sister, they would love to stay together , so we’re hoping they have the same FURRever home. They are both happy, healthy, update to date on all their shots and ready to go! They will be spayed/neutered at FURR’s expense when they are old enough, but can be adopted in the meantime.

A very nice “empty nest” couple called me after receiving our FURR Christmas card. They had donated to FURR before! They are Sheryl & Brian. They have 3 girl kitties but felt their heartstrings pulled when they saw the picture of WINKY on our Christmas card. They had lost their 4th cat to cancer and thought they might like to rescue WINKY. They came to the lodge and visited for a while. Of course I was happy that this amazing couple that LOVED cats wanted one of ours (their other 3 had come from other places), but I was worried about Beach Boy and Winky being separated.
Blinkie, Winky’s sister, has never been as attached to her brother or Beach Boy, so I wasn’t as worried about her. She is more independent and I felt like she would be fine, in time, with any other kitty friend or maybe even as an only kitty.
Anyway, the meeting went very well and the couple just loved Winky. They left the lodge pretty positive about adopting him, but I told them to go home and think it over carefully, also giving me time to cope with the idea of separating Winky and Beach Boy. I did tell them the story of how Beach Boy took over caring for Winky and basically adopted him as his little son! It was truly amazing to see Beach Boy watch over him and also to watch Winky follow Beach Boy around EVERYWHERE! Winky would actually mimic whatever BB would do……eating the same food, sleeping in the same place & going potty at the same time!
I was so happy, but so sad at the same time and could not sleep that night.
The next day, I got a phone call from the couple. I was in the car with Mike going to lunch and I just burst out into tears and had to hang up the phone! Of course Mike was waiting to hear what in the world had happened……..I told him that the wonderful couple who had wanted Winky called to say that they wanted Beach Boy too! I could not believe my ears & just could not contain myself! As sad as I was going to be, saying goodbye to Beach Boy, I knew this was just another “meant to be” God stop! I had to call Sheryl & Brian back and apologize for not being able to speak to them at that moment, but I was so taken back by their call, that I needed a moment!
Beach Boy and I had been through a lot after I trapped & rescued him underneath my beach cottage. That was last year in Garden City Beach. I was trying, once again, to get away for a week with my family and rest from all the stresses of rescue work…………well, there he was, living underneath “MY” cottage! He was skin and bones, and he would run away like lightening as soon as he would see me, but he certainly did come back during the nights to eat the food I would leave for him. I managed to get a local rescue group to loan me a trap and, of course, I got him.
After several months at FURR, Beach Boy got healthy and his wonderful, sweet personality started coming out! He was an absolute doll and easy to love! I was immediately attached to this big, kind boy cat.
When Beach Boy took over caring for Winky, we knew that a bond had formed between these two. How in the world did this happen and did God just know that they needed this happy ending??? That WE needed this happy ending?
Anyway, the cats are delivered to their amazingly beautiful HUGE house and they are all set up in a large bonus room with lots of windows, window seats, toys, cat trees and some FURR blankets that I had brought for them. Both the kitties came out of their carriers and slinked around a bit and then BOTH of them went to the TOP of the cat tree and snuggled together on a FURR blanket from out of their room!
I kissed & kissed them on their heads and cried as I left, but I know this is best and that they will be so happy there! Sheryl and Brian are the true kind of cat lovers! They have 3 other young cats and their house is just filled with lots of cat toys, cat blankets, cat beds, cat trees and anything any cat could ever want! This couple will spare nothing to make sure that their kitties are healthy (best food), happy (best toys & trees) and have the best home (love, love, love) that they can give them!!!
Sheryl promised me that she would kiss them both on the head every night before bed (like I always did to them) AND she promised me that the first time Beach Boy stands up on his hind legs to give her a head butt as she leans over to him or gets a nose-to-nose kiss from him that she will think of me! Those were treasured memories I will never, ever forget.
Original Post: WINKY has an amazing survival story! This kitten was rescued from a feral colony of cats and had been living with one infected and ruptured eye!!! FURR took him in for surgery and immediately had the eye removed! Now WINKY is the SWEETEST and HAPPIEST little kitten ever!

He has not missed a beat and plays up a storm! We are sure that now that the pain and suffering is gone, he is just thrilled to have attention and be ALIVE! WINKY also came with an adorable little sister that we call BLINKIE! The two kittens are quite a pair and are very attached! These kittens are sooooooo soft and loving! Our volunteer staff at FURR just LOVES them! Come meet them soon! They are ready to go and have been “fixed”, had all shots, blood tested (negative) and ready to go!
