Original Story:

You won’t believe what a wonderful kitty I am! I was rescued from a colony of cats in Hampstead!  My name is LEA and I am a tiny, young teenage girl.  I was supposed to be fixed and turned back out into the colony because there are SO many of us!  FURR found out quickly that I fell in love with being loved!!!  I am so unique that I would rather be cuddled and petted than EAT!  I talk up a storm thanking FURR for saving me and I show my gratitude by rolling over and showing my belly!  I definitely need to be someone’s indoor family cat because of my amazingly sweet nature!  I get along great with other cats (once I have a moment to get to know them), but my very favorite thing in the world is to be HELD & LOVED!  I am fully vetted and ready to go.

January 2023 FURR has rescued this gorgeous feral kitten! Terry trapped at him “seafood colony”. He and his sister, Shells, both need a foster home/homes with someone who can spend a lot of time holding and petting them. They are approximately 4 months old:

Puffer, Shell’s male sibling, has long black hair with an amazing silver mane

Shells is a sweet girl with short hair and lovely dilute gray tortie coloring.

Sept. 26, 2023 WONDERFUL NEWS!  MAMA HOOVER WAS ADOPTED TODAY!!!
I delivered her to her new home and the nicest couple has adopted her!  Katarina & Jon seem like the “purrfect” couple to give this SWEET kitty lots of love.  She totally deserves it & has waited longer than she should have for her special moment!

I was told there was a feral mama cat living at an abandoned house in Hampstead off of Hoover Rd.  The person also told me that this cat had little kittens!

I went out to trap and rescue the feral family, but the kittens were no where to be found.  I went back there time and time again, leaving food and water for poor mama cat, but the kittens were gone.

I trapped this poor mama kitty and after having all her vet work done and working with her at FURR, she just melted my heart!  She became such a sweet and grateful little girl and would just curl up in my arms like a bunny.

Of course I was in tears leaving her today, but hooray and congrats to this wonderful couple that took a tiny, somewhat shy and humble, BLACK CAT!!!

I will miss her every day.

Original Story I have had it rough & had a litter of kittens in the woods all by myself.  Starving myself, I could not feed or save them.  Despite my hardships, I am very grateful to FURR for saving me and I am the SWEETEST little kitty ever! I am a young adult kitty who LOVES to be picked up, held, brushed and just ANY contact is appreciated.  I was so lonely for so long, I think I’m trying to make up for lost time! Just come spend a little time with me….you’ll be so glad you did!!!

April 2022 Hi I’m Preppie (shown above) When FURR rescued me I was living under a prep school and was too scared to come out much, but FINALLY I was rescued and I have been meowing with joy ever since! I am the SWEETEST little teenage girl with VERY unique for fur as I am black with silver underneath! I love being with people! I never knew it could be so GREAT to be loved, fed regularly and SAFE!

A couple days ago I got one of those distressed calls. I man living in the WORST part of Wilmington called. His neighbor lady had a kitty that the man said was beautiful & sweet. He said that she could not care for him any more and had decided to euthanize him. The man was so upset at the thought of this cat being put to sleep, that he called everywhere he could looking for help. He had no car, no money & was living (like his neighbor) in a rough part of town in a small government one-room apartment. His sincerity really got to me and so I started also calling for help.

One rescue stepped up to say that they would “loan” me one of their foster homes that currently did not have any cats. I was thrilled & quickly called the man back to say we (my sister, Fran, and I) would come and get him.

To our amazement, even in this tiny, horrible place where the cat had lived, he looked fairly healthy. He was already neutered & had on an old rabies tag. The cat was HUGE, but not all that fat, just BIG! His name is “MARBLES” and he was extremely friendly and beautiful. He is a 5 year old orange tabby with lots of white and huge eyes!

The poor old woman sadly put him in the crate and said goodbye. Fran and I took him straight to the vet and got his shots, blood testing (negative for all!), checked for microchip (none) and treated him for fleas & parasites.

MARBLES went to the foster home & evidently made himself quite at home. He ignored the other cat in the house and the dogs….for the most part. He would swat at the little dog every now and again, but he seemed to just blend in with no problems.

MARBLES is extremely friendly and needs a permanent home. He is a very LARGE boy and was a little heavy for even me to pick up! He has BIG sweet eyes and kinda likes to run the show. I would imagine he would be quite entertaining AND be quite warm for snuggling up to! Please let FURR know if you would like to meet this fellow!

We only have a MONTH to find him a home, but at least for now, he is safe!!!

July 2022 We are a bonded pair of ADORABLE kittens!  With WILLIAM being a REALLY laid back boy & long haired and STOREY being a short haired girl and full of energy, you get the best of both worlds with us!  We were rescued together and just can’t imagine life without the other!  We are so BEAUTIFUL with our silky gray & white fur!  We are fully vetted and ready to go including microchip, blood testing, spay/neuter surgery, all shots, collars & tags and our TOYS!  We are living in a really small space now, so we would love to have some room to RUN & PLAY!  Please come meet us soon!  We love to cuddle AND we love to play!  We know you will LOVE us both!

January 2023 Bo Mama is adopted! Check back for her story.

July 2022 My name is Bo Mama and I need HELP! I am a DROP DEAD GORGEOUS cat that was rescued at a Bojangles where I was living in the woods!! A good Samaritan saw me out there, and I was PREGNANT!  She took care of me until FURR could help! I had my babies after going into rescue and now I am hoping to get MY turn at a new life!  You won’t find a more beautiful color or softer coat than mine.  I am still VERY shy, but I need someone that will foster me for a little while to give me confidence!  I am very small and sweet natured, I’ve just never lived in a REAL home before!  I am so close to being ready for adoption!  I’m hoping someone will spend the time with me to help reassure me that I won’t have to live outside and abandoned any more!  Are you that cat whisperer that I am looking for?  Do you have time for a sweet little girl like me?  Please open your heart & home to me!  I am spayed now and completely vetted and healthy! 

January 2024 Update on Tuna and Catfish – these kitties that are going great with their new Mom, Susan Medina. Here are updated photos of Tuna (now Samantha) Adopted with Catfish (now Caramel) in their new home.

Susan says, “Tuna and Catfish (Samantha & Caramel) continue to live their best life here in Charlotte! They’re both love-bug lap cats who cuddle with all 4 of us (and each other) regularly.”

July 2022 My name is TUNA and, yes, I LOVE tuna!  I am a long haired tortie girl and quite an eye catcher!  You don’t see many cats with my beautiful markings and coloring, so I know I am special!  I am a little shy until you start talking to me and then, if you rub my back right in front of my tail, you would be surprised how high I can lift by butt up in the air!  That just means that I LOVE the attention and to keep on scratching me!  I was rescued from a seafood production plant and I’m so glad FURR saw me out late one night playing under the street lights.  I might have been hurt or KILLED if I had continued to live there!  I’ve had it really hard, but now I’m on easy street just waiting for someone to sweep me off my feet!  Could that be you???  I’m already spayed and fully vetted!  Hurry please!

Hi my name is Max I am a sweet sensitive teenage girl, who needs a moment to learn that you’re a friend. Life has started out rough for me.
