AN AMAZING WONDER!!! “LOUIE” (Named after Louie Zamparini from the movie UNBROKEN) is now ready for adoption! Watch his video! This cat has the most amazing survival story and has turned out to be EXTREMELY GRATEFUL for another chance at life! LOUIE almost lost his leg to a coyote in the freezing cold weather while he was living on his own in the woods. A good Samaritan called FURR for advice and was able to catch the kitty before he died.
FURR took the cat, starving and in horrible shape, to the ER where they immediately suggested amputating the leg to save his life. However, FURR’s fabulous vet, Dr. Moses at Four Seasons Cat Hospital, had other ideas! Dr. Moses kept LOUIE at her hospital for weeks and saved, not only him, but his leg!!! LOUIE is 100% now, using his leg with no problems and just as happy as he can be! In fact, Louie talks all the time, loves everybody, loves all the other cats, purrs non-stop, rubs on all of us and will even give you head butts! This is one amazing cat, only about 2 years young and is ready for his “furrever” home! LOUIE is neutered, had all of his shots and is ready to go. Someone will be extremely lucky to be owned by this UNBELIEVABLE cat!!!
He has bonded with another one of our beautiful Russian Blue mix cats, named MOONEY. They are like two peas in a pod and both SUPER friendly!!! It is so cute to watch them together and they sleep together in one BIG ball! I am really holding out hope that these two kitties can go together……but you all know how hard that is to even get just one kitty adopted these days! Let’s all say a prayer that the two cats can remain together & live happily ever after!!!
There is a lot more to Louie’s rescue and recovery! Read the full story.

Sparrow is adopted in late 2017! Here is his story..
Four Kittens Rescued in Monroe, NC November 2017
A friend of mine called when trapping cats on a terrible street in Monroe……she was trying to get as many “fixed” as she could and get them rabies shots. The street is a poor street, dirty houses and abused animals everywhere. She is working hard to put a dent in the cruelty.
While she was out there trapping, she heard some awful screaming coming from underneath one of the houses. When she knocked on the door, the lady that answered said that there were kittens under there. The kittens had been there for about a week with no mama because she was hit and killed in the street………dear GOD!
My friend called me immediately and said she had gotten permission to get the kittens out from underneath the house and could I please take them. I agreed and even though it was getting late into the evening, I told her to bring them over no matter how late it was.
The kittens looked like they should have been dead. They looked like little baby birds with just skeletons barely covered with fur. They were completely starved and there was no way to know if they would make it. Of course they were immediately fed, bathed (covered in fleas), put on a heating pad and loved. These kittens were the worse case I had ever seen. You would just cry looking at them.
Over time, one of them did pass away. It is heart breaking when you do everything possible to save them……..staying up all night feeding them, keeping them warm, keeping them clean, etc. It sometimes is just out of our hands, but boy does that hurt………hurts deep.
The kittens were named after birds: Robin, Finch, Sparrow & Jay. ROBIN passed away at the ER. It was my second trip to the ER with him. He just lost the will to live and they call it “fading kitten syndrome”. I had him cremated and his little box with his picture is at our rescue facility.
The other three kittens, Finch, Sparrow and Jay are holding on. They have been through a rough time with extreme diarrhea, NOT eating, worms, fleas, etc. They are cured now from all of those things, but now at 7 weeks old, they still don’t want anything to eat but formula, they just barely nibble on their canned food. All I want is for these babies to grow up strong and get a wonderful home where they will be loved, and loved, and loved!!!

On another wonderful “KATHLEEN” note, her recent adoption of our beloved TINKER is going fantastic! The reports and pictures that she has sent me are amazing! KATHLEEN has another FURR kitty that she adopted years ago named, “Chocolate Mousse”, and she also has a rescued kitty about 1-2 years old. Both of her cats have welcomed TINKER into their home and it is going extremely well! The cats are all getting along, playing, eating together and having fun! Look at these great pictures she sent to me!
We miss TINKER at the lodge SOOOO much! He was a favorite & so kind and sweet. But, if you remember, when we saved TINKER, he was so skinny & afraid! We certainly transformed him into the amazing cat that we knew he could be and I was SHOCKED the day KATHLEEN told me that she wanted to adopt him! I was thrilled, but knew that she already had 2 kitties……………so, what a happy day I had when she told me she wanted him!
KATHLEEN is calling him “KNUFFEL” which is adorable and means “cuddly” in Dutch! Get out! How cute!
Tinker’s Story
GORGEOUS RUSSIAN BLUE mix, teenager, male, very very very loving & sweet! Loves to be petted, held, brushed and just melts with attention! TINKER is just a kind, docile kitty. He is laid back, but does love to play with our other FURR kitties. TINKER would be ok alone as a single kitty, or he would be fine with friends. This kitty is fully vetted, all shots, neutered & tested (negative for feline aids/leukemia/heart worm disease). I know he will not last long at FURR. So many people just LOVE the soft, silky coat on the Russian Blue type kitties! Come and meet TINKER soon! You will fall in love!!!
