September 1, 2025 New FURR rescue! Davis is an adorable 3 to 4 month old silver tabby male kitten! Watch his video!  FUN, FUN, FUN! 

My niece found this little guy almost dead in the bushes of her front yard! Anemic from hundreds of fleas, skin & bones from starvation and FULL of worms, this kitten was on his way out.

My niece’s husband wrapped him in a towel and brought him inside. I got a call and we all went to work!

After a couple weeks of meds, food and a flea bath, this little boy kitten is doing great! He is the sweetest and happiest fella!

His name is “Davis” and he is ready now for his neuter surgery!

What a great rescue!!!

September 2, 2025 It has now been over 3 years since these gorgeous cats, Orange Roughy and his brother Guppy, were rescued. They were just kittens when I trapped & saved them from a seafood production plant that was closing down.

The kittens had been traumatized, starved & constantly dodging massive tractor trailer trucks & equipment. They were pitiful & barely alive when I finally caught them.

These 2 brothers have come through a tremendous journey. They are both now healthy & kind, but still very very cautious especially around someone new.

We have worked hard to help them gain confidence and feel safe, but no one will adopt them or give them a chance. Most adopters are looking for a “purrfect” cat that will make themselves happy. Im looking for that selfless adopter that wants to save a life or two because that is what paying it forward & rescue work is all about.

These two beautiful sweet boys need time & love. If you think you have patience & a big heart for the not-so-purrfect cats, give me a call! As soon as you meet these precious souls, your heart will tell you what to do.

I feel so sorry for these cats after so many rescues have come & gone and they still wait for a chance of a home.

“Orange Roughy” is the big, beautiful long haired orange boy and “Guppy” is his gorgeous orange & white brother.

I pray for them every day. I know their angel adopter is out there somewhere!

August 29, 2025 A new little one ready for adoption at FURR named “BERRY”!

This little kitten was all alone in the blackberry bushes crying for help!  It was late at night and FURR volunteer, Elizabeth was out walking her dog.  She heard the kitten crying in the bushes and she came and got me.  After a few minutes of the kitten alluding capture, I was finally able to grab him!

BERRY has been amazing!  He loves everybody and is being fostered by Elizabeth.  BERRY loves to cuddle and loves the dog (big golden retriever)! He is truly amazing, happy and playful.  BERRY is fully vetted & ready to go!

July 3, 2025 Meet Sue and read her amazing rescue story! Watch her video to see how beautiful and friendly she is!

A local vet called me & asked for my help in working with a feral family of cats that she was fostering.

She had a feral rescued mom & 4 babies in her garage.  The kittens were coming around but the mama was hissing & swatting at her.

I went over and assessed the mama & could quickly see that she had great potential to be adopted.  I gave the vet some instructions & pointers, but she called me a week or so later to tell me some news.

The kittens were taken in by a rescue but the mama kitty would be euthanized because she was feral.

Of course the mama cat had already pulled on my heart strings, so I took her to keep her alive.

At FURR, the mama cat, named “SUE”, tamed up beautifully and quickly!  She has become sweet as pie, loves pets & talks to us all the time with her “thank you for saving me” conversations!

To top it off, SUE is absolutely gorgeous, healthy & loves the other cats!

SUE is spayed, had all her shots, blood tested & ready to go!

August 26, 2025 It turns out that Kathy & her granddaughter,  Maxine, we’re RIGHT when they told me that little Wildflower sounded like she was having trouble breathing.

After a couple days of sounding funny, Wildflower got a LOT worse & sounded like she was struggling to breathe.  

I rushed her to Sound Cat & they sedated her & examined her throat saying she needed to be scoped with an endoscope to really see what’s going on.

NC State told me that I could come up, but would be on a waiting list to get her scoped.  No thanks @ $1,000 a day!  The Wilmington Animal ER said that their doc that does the endoscopic exams was booked this week & on vacation next week!

My sister & I worked quickly to fine a vet with a scope & thank goodness, Needham Animal Hospital had one & a very well known vet named Dr. Batts that said he could see Wildflower the NEXT day!

I took her to Dr. Batts & he did surgery on her!  She had a lump in her throat that he had to remove.  Luckily, after worrying about it, she came out of surgery fine!  The lump was biopsied & was not cancer & was not a polyp.  It was caused by some sort of trauma to her throat & could be from her spay surgery.  We will never know, but she is doing great now!

WHEWWW!

The growth is not expected to return according to Dr. Batts.

What a blessing!!! This beautiful little angel is ready for adoption!

July 3, 2025 – Rescued kittens are ready for adoption! Watch them play in their video! Shown above from left to right are:

“FERN” – Short haired girl gray tabby colored
“FORREST” – Long haired boy bright orange tabby colored

FURR took in FOUR KITTENS trapped in the woods in Rocky Point, NC!  A really wonderful Samaritan followed my exact instructions and trapped 4 little kittens and their mama.  This family was starving and homeless!

FURR took in the kittens after a couple of weeks and the lady that rescued them kept the mama kitty.

These 4 kittens are now healthy and happy!

We have:

2 orange ones!

2 gray ones!

2 short haired!

2 long haired!

2 girls!

2 boys!

So, you see, we have a great variety to choose from!

ADORABLE, GREAT PURR MOTORS & VERY PLAYFUL!!!

May 31, 2025 Meet DOTTIE in her first video with FURR! I rescued her from New Hanover Animal Control on the DAY she was to be euthanized!

Here is a second video of Dottie after she was at FURR for a couple of weeks! This beautiful 5 years young kitty is long haired, very sweet, very talkative and being wonderful at FURR considering all that she has been through!

DOTTIE’S owner left her at Animal Control and told them to euthanize her because she didn’t want her any more!

We have had DOTTIE a few weeks now and she has been “purrfect”! Everybody loves her and she talks to us, rolls around on the floor, always uses her litter box and is a delight to have! She acts as if she has been abused and seems scared at times almost afraid we are going to hit her or yelling at her? We just pet her gently, love her, talk sweet to her and she LOVES that! She rubs all around our legs and let’s us pick her up with no problem! I’m so glad she is with FURR!

She vetted, healthy, clean and is ready to go! Believe me, we will be extremely picky about who gets her. She deserves a great home!

Sept. 7, 2024 Meet adorable me in my new video!

April 13, 2024 My name is “BUMBLE BEE” and FURR rescued me from a terrible situation!  My BIG bright eyes look just like a bee and my colors too!  I am no bigger than a football and have quite a silly/sassy personality!  After I get to know someone who is sweet and gentle with me, I follow them all around meowing and sticking my tail straight up in the air! 

I’m only between 1 and 2 years old and I love belly rubs.  They tell me that I’ve probably had a litter of kittens before!  I wonder what happened to them?  All I need is a little patience and love to become your little friend!  Come visit me soon.  I would probably prefer no dogs or loud children, but I do just fine with other cats.  If they bother me, I just give them a pop with my paw, but no claws!  Call me “Bee” for short!!!

February 2023 Shells is still available and Puffer is adopted in Feb 2023!

January 2023 FURR has rescued this gorgeous feral kitten! Terry trapped at her “seafood colony”. She and her brother, Puffer, both need a foster home/homes with someone who can spend a lot of time holding and petting them. They are approximately 4 months old:

Shells is a sweet girl with short hair and lovely dilute gray tortie coloring.

Puffer, Shell’s male sibling, has long hair black kitten with an amazing silver mane!
