June 2026 -FURR is changing it’s focus due to Terry’s recent health concerns.
Starting this week, you will see FURR’s 2-page ad in the July issue of PawPrints magazine announcing FURR is Closing Indefinitely.
Please look for page 27, shown on the left, and page 29, shown above.
What does this mean for FURR Supporters, Fosters, Adopters and Volunteers?
In short, it means two things:
- Changes: FURR is no longer accepting new kitties, i.e. “Closing Indefinitely for New Intakes”
- Continues: Needing everyone’s support for the foreseeable future!
Each of you is critical to ensure that our transition through the 2 Phases outlined below runs as smoothly as possible for the sake of people and kitties!:
- Phase 1 is complete when all kitties that are ready for adoption are adopted or living with a foster:
- No further intake of new kitties effective immediately
- FURR continues to need support from all volunteers and donors in caring for the kitties while they await fostering or adoption
- FURR continues to need Fosters and Adopters to approved homes in the Hampstead/Wilmington area as per our current process and Application
- FURR covers a fostered kitty’s food, litter, supplies and any needed vet costs for as long as they are in the foster’s care
- Ferals remain in the Sanctuary – no changes for now
- Timeline TBD, but we’re hoping this is complete by the end of 2026
- Phase 2 is complete when Terry decides the long-term plan for the Feral Sanctuary:
- No further intake of new kitties effective immediately
- Future plans depend in part on Terry’s health recovery
- Final arrangements for the Feral Sanctuary and the FURR Properties is TBD
None of this is going to happen overnight. In fact, we’re not in control of the timeline on accomplishing each Phase. So please continue to do the wonderful work each of you are doing to care for our kitties as Terry leads FURR in this new approach during the months to come.
Thank you so much for your understanding and for all you do for FURR!
Please let Terry and I know if you have any questions or concerns.
Best regards,
