Polar Bear and New Mom April 2016

This kitty was rescued from an awful situation and had never been around people before!  After he got some love and attention, he started rolling over, meowing and begging for attention! This humongous kitty is as SWEET as he is BIG!  This is truly a gentle giant and he is BEAUFITUL!!!  POLAR BEAR has never been anything but kind and loving and he can’t wait to be petted, brushed or loved on!

As I delivered POLAR BEAR to his new and wonderful home in April 2016, I just could not believe I was letting this cat go? Here is his story…

I found “The Three Bears”, all feral cats, living in the area where I was looking for another lost kitty.  An older lady that was trying to keep them fed, but most of the time she would feed them scraps since she could hardly afford to feed herself.  I delivered cat food to her to help her with all the feral cats trying to survive in her area.  There are more where these came from.  They were in horrible shape, covered in fleas, infested in parasites, black inside their ears from ear mites and dirt, oil on their coat and tails from hiding under cars, with scarred and sad faces.

My intention was to TNR these cats (trap, neuter & release) and take them back to where I found them. I brought the 3 bear kitties (Polar Bear, Santa Bear and Teddy Bear) back home to recover after their spay/neuter surgery. Well, that was it.  After a month of working on their health with vitamins, nutritious food, medicines, etc., I fell head over heals in love with all of them!  They were quite “hissy” and feral when captured, but that did not last long.  They slept SO MUCH and seemed so grateful for the nice soft blankets, ample amount of food and LOTS of petting and brushing.  Santa Bear got adopted pretty soon along with our long-time kitty Smiley.  I will send you all an update on those kitties soon.

Polar Bear got adopted to a wonderful couple.  They do not have kids, so their cats are their “babies” and their one other kitty looks just like Polar Bear, except she is a girl!  Look at these pictures!  Amy and Nathan lost a beloved kitty last year and it has taken them a while to be ready for another friend for their cat.  Polar Bear really captured their heart and it was love at first introduction!  Many thanks to Marisa who encouraged them to come and visit the FURR lodge!

I feel absolutely relieved after taking Polar Bear to their lovely home.  It is going to be a wonderful life for him and the bittersweet tears fell as I drove home.

Update August 2016: POLAR BEAR is doing great in his new home! POLAR BEAR is now named “ALFRED” and he is on the bed with his new sister kitty “MAYBELLE”!  They are both two peas in a pod, they get along great and they look IDENTICAL!  Isn’t that funny!  With the white bedspread and the two big white kitty cats, you can hardly see them!  I’m just so happy that POLAR BEAR has such a wonderful and loving home!
