Hello FURR Friends,
I have noticed in the last week or so that BREVARD kitty has been a little more reserved & cowering more. She looked to me like she might be losing weight??? I also noticed that she was not wanting to eat her canned food, which she loves.
When we got this poor kitty, she had been through the ringer. Being a young mom (around 10 months), living as a feral cat, never knowing when she would get her next meal AND having new born kittens was almost too much to bear.
She is the kitty that I got a call about a year ago last April. She had just had kittens in an abandoned house. Unfortunately, the owners of the house started construction RIGHT after BREVARD had her babies. The workers found the kittens and called animal control to come and get them……….not knowing where the mama was. Of course, Brevard was hiding nearby, starving and worrying about her little ones.
Meanwhile, one of the workers called me for help. I was driving back from Wilmington to help rescue this family when I got a call that Waxhaw Animal Control had already picked up the babies. I then called Union County to tell them I was on the way from out of town to save them………..but, it was too late. They had already been euthanized.
Unbearable news……..especially for BREVARD.
I totally devoted the next two weeks to trapping & rescuing BREVARD. After finally catching her, FURR spent lots of time getting her vetted, getting her the nutrition she needed and treating her with love. Now we have had BREVARD for almost a year and now she is having problems!
After examining her closely, I could clearly see that her gums had become really red and inflammed! I knew that she had developed some severe gum disease and needed to see the vet asap. A lot of times these poor kitties get NONE of the vitimens, minerals or nutrients that they need when born outside. Who knows if she even got to nurse from her mom? Somehow she survived, but now she is paying the price for being on her own for almost a year.
BREVARD was rushed to dental surgery this week. She had almost ALL of her teeth pulled! She is now heavily medicated with pain medicine and antibiotics.
WE NEED TO RAISE $1500 TO COVER HER BILL!!! PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN, BUT EVEN IF YOU CAN’T, PLEASE PASS ON THE WORD TO SOMEONE WHO MIGHT BE ABLE TO…..REMEMBER THAT EVEN $20 IS A START!
